Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa

A 4-star hotel in a historic former bank building in central Palermo, with a cloister courtyard bar, a spa, a gym and a breakfast buffet.

Why people love it

• Location. Guests say the hotel is in the old town with sights within walking distance, and one adds that shops and restaurants are all around.
• Large rooms. Many guests describe large, spacious rooms. One mentions separate wet and dry bathroom areas and wide hallways, and a September 2026 guest found the rooms quiet.
• Breakfast. Guests in August and September 2026 call the breakfast excellent.
• Courtyard and staff. Guests mention the cloister and a bar in a courtyard. Vittorio from the bar and the maître d' Domenico are thanked by name.
• Parking. A September 2026 guest says staff parked the car for €18 per night.

The worst thing guests say

A June 2026 guest reported a moldy smell in the room, an old bed in poor condition, and a receptionist who acted defensively. In September 2026 a 2-star guest could not get spa availability at any point in a four-day stay. A July 2026 guest called the beds very hard and the rooms in need of tidying, and another said the hallways need fresh paint and carpet. An August 2026 guest arriving by car said reception could only say the route was easy. Older 1-star reviews mention a broken heater and poor hot water (January 2023), a cramped room (October 2022) and poor soundproofing on a Saturday night (April 2018).

Insider tips

• Reserve spa time as early as you can. A September 2026 guest found no availability in four days.
• Arriving by car? Ask reception for specific directions before you set out.
• The fitness room has free weights, a treadmill and a bike but no water fountain, so bring a bottle.
• A September 2026 guest noted the bathtub in the room sits quite high.
