Hotel Bucintoro
A waterfront hotel in Castello facing the lagoon, with lagoon-view rooms, a rooftop terrace suite, a bar and free breakfast.
Why people love it
- Lagoon views. Guests describe views over the lagoon, gondolas, the St. Mark's bell tower and the islands opposite from the rooms and terraces.
- Staff. Manager Stefano Fiore is thanked by name in several reviews. One guest said the staff make you feel like family.
- Breakfast. Reviewers call it outstanding, varied and fresh.
- Location. It sits about 2 minutes from a vaporetto stop and 10 to 15 minutes' walk from St. Mark's, near the Arsenale and away from the main crowds.
Why they come back
"We are staying at Bucintoro for many years and its always such an amazing place to be."
The worst thing guests say
Service lapses in individual cases. In September 2025 a guest celebrating an anniversary was put on the first floor next to the elevator without any acknowledgement, and a July 2025 reviewer reported a rude receptionist. Two guests said rooms were not large or that closet space was minimal. A January 2024 guest was charged a night after cancelling for illness. Older low ratings (2021 to 2023) concern a voucher after a COVID cancellation and a dirty mattress.
Insider tips
- Ask for a lagoon-view room or the suite with the rooftop terrace.
- Mention an anniversary or birthday at booking, since one guest felt it was not acknowledged.
- Storage space is limited in some room types.
