Tenuta Guardastelle
A winery estate with rooms, apartments, a pool and a garden near San Gimignano, known for wine tours and cooking classes.
Why people love it
- The staff. Sara, Suzanna and Claudia are named by guests. One guest said Sara gave pointers for visiting Volterra and Suzanna took care of any request.
- Cooking classes and wine tours. Chef Giuseppe (Beppe) Sposito's cooking class and Fausto's vineyard tour are praised in many recent reviews. One guest on a second visit called the cooking class exceptional again.
- Setting and pool. Guests describe views of the medieval town from the patio where breakfast is served, and a pool they used to relax after sightseeing.
- Walking distance to town. Several guests say San Gimignano is within walking distance.
Why they come back
"Our second visit and once again we had an exceptional cooking class."
The worst thing guests say
Most low ratings come from people who visited for wine tastings, not overnight guests. Between 2017 and 2025 about ten visitors described rude service, long waits and small pours for the price. Among overnight guests, one in October 2024 was upset that a confirmed room was swapped for an upgrade they did not want, and one in June 2026 found the furnishings below their expectations.
Insider tips
- Book the cooking class or wine tour ahead, as recent reviews mention both often.
- Expect steep stairs to some rooms, as one guest noted in 2019.
- If you want a specific room, confirm it again before arrival.
