Il Monastero
A 3-star hotel inside a 16th-century monastery in the Aragonese Castle, with sea views, gardens and a restaurant.
RisingWhy people love it
- The setting. Guests describe sleeping inside the castle, with sea views, gardens, and a museum visit included in the price.
- The restaurant. Guests praise the tasting menu and the pork ravioli, and several say dinner was among their best meals on the island.
- Breakfast on the terrace. One June 2025 guest called it the best breakfast on the island, and others praise it.
- Staff. Guests call the staff kind, professional and attentive, and a family-run feel comes up more than once.
The worst thing guests say
Access is the most common concern. A guest in May 2024 and another in 2020 described a long uneven walk with luggage, many stairs, and unsuitability for people with limited mobility. The rooms are former nuns' cells and one guest in 2024 called them bare. In 2022 a guest said the rooms overlook a restaurant open until midnight. A 2019 guest reported a theft from their room, and nothing similar appears in recent reviews.
Insider tips
- Pack light, as there are many steps and a long walk from the drop-off. Porters are available.
- A lift covers part of the climb.
- Visit the museum, which is included, and the vegetable garden.
