Gabbia D'Oro
A historic five-star boutique hotel on Piazza delle Erbe in Verona with a garden terrace and a breakfast many guests praise.
Why people love it
- The staff. Guests describe staff who went above and beyond, including espresso offered while waiting for an airport cab.
- Piazza location, quiet inside. One guest says the hotel sits on a busy foot-traffic street but feels tranquil once you turn in.
- Breakfast. Reviewers call it superb, with the morning omelettes singled out by one guest in December 2025.
- Character. Guests mention the old building, spacious rooms (room 300 is named) and a parrot named Romeo.
The worst thing guests say
In August 2024 a guest said curtains, furniture and light switches were dusty and the junior suite had no shower. In October 2024 another guest said a late checkout approved in advance was not respected. Older reviews from 2018 to 2023 describe small, dated junior suites and a Booking.com refund dispute. Since March 2025 no overnight guest has reported anything similar; one visitor said staff slammed the door when asked about the bar.
Insider tips
- Parking is not at the hotel, so ask about valet or a garage.
- Confirm what type of room you are getting if you book a junior suite.
- Ask about late checkout when you arrive.
