Grand Hotel Timeo, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina

A historic five-star hotel on the hillside in Taormina, next to the Roman theater, with a terrace bar, restaurant, spa and outdoor pool.

Why people love it

• Fabio on the terrace. Fabio is named in at least eight reviews since July 2026 for attentive service, mostly from drinks and aperitivo on the terrace.
• Views. One overnight guest says the views are good even from the bathroom. Others mention Mount Etna and the coastline.
• Beach access. One guest used the sister property's beach, and another says the hotel has a beach club.
• Managers around. A September 2026 guest was met by Julia, the villa manager, who gave a tour of the property.

The worst thing guests say

Among guests who stayed overnight, a June 2026 reviewer said the hotel cancelled a booking made in March two weeks before arrival because construction was not complete. A July 2026 guest rated it 4 stars and said many parts of the property need renovation and better maintenance. In July 2023 a guest said the concierge ignored requests and the shuttle to town and the beach club was often full and ran hourly. In June 2024 a family said their room was far smaller than the family room they booked. Visitors to the bar and restaurant complain about prices, for example 28 euros for a martini in June 2024. In August 2026 a 1-star review describes a 40-minute wait for a dinner table and does not say whether the guest stayed.

Insider tips

• Book the beach club shuttle ahead; guests report it runs hourly and fills up.
• Confirm your room is ready for your dates, since one guest was cancelled two weeks out.
• Expect high bar and restaurant prices.
