Grand Hotel Dino

A large four-star lakefront hotel in Stresa with two pools, three restaurants, a spa and a big conference trade.

Why people love it

• Location and lake views. Guests repeatedly describe the lakeside setting and views as the main draw, with indoor and outdoor pools on site.
• Spacious rooms. A September 2026 guest found the rooms large, well maintained and very clean. A conference guest in October 2026 said the rooms were a bit dated but spacious and very clean.
• Breakfast. A guest on a second yearly visit called the breakfast outstanding, and another conference guest said it was pretty good for Europe.
• Service. Several September and October 2026 reviewers praise the service and the welcome.

Why they come back

"We returned to the Grand Hotel Dino for the second year and, once again, everything was perfect."

The worst thing guests say

Dated rooms and uneven service recur. Among overnight guests from 2023 to 2026, many complained of old furniture, few sockets, weak or missing air conditioning, thin mattresses and rude staff. In May 2026 and August 2026 guests said breakfast and other items were charged extra. Several said the hotel now focuses on tour groups and business events, and a guest in 2023 was woken at 2 am by an event downstairs.

Insider tips

• Check whether breakfast is included in your rate, as two 2026 guests paid extra.
• Ask for a lake-view room when booking and confirm it in writing.
• Light sleeper? Ask about events in the hotel on your dates.
• Ask for a mattress topper early if you find the bed firm.
