Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel

A five-star Waldorf Astoria on a hill above Rome with an art collection, two restaurants, two outdoor pools and a spa.

Why people love it

• Art. A guest in October 2026 says the artworks in the lobby and hallways make the hotel feel like a small art museum.
• Views. Guests mention a beautiful view of Rome from the room, the hilltop, and the rooftop terrace.
• Breakfast and restaurant staff. Gianluca, the manager at breakfast, is named in a September 2026 review. A guest in October 2026 called the breakfast buffet awesome.
• Grounds and pools. A guest on a week-long meeting praised the greenery and swimming pool.
• Old-world feel. One guest called it a little dated with old-world charm.

Why they come back

"This is our favorite hotel anywhere in the world. We've stayed here many times over the years."

The worst thing guests say

Dated rooms are the most repeated complaint in the recent low ratings: January 2026 (tired hotel), May 2026 (outdated and worn rooms) and September 2025 (dusty, cracked walls, chipped furniture). Other 1-star reviews describe check-in at 3:20 pm after arriving at noon (September 2025), the spa and pool closed for all of August without notice at booking (August 2025), a dirty bed (April 2025) and a card fraud claim after checkout (January 2025). A guest in September 2026 said breakfast had declined.

Insider tips

• Check pool and spa dates. A guest who stayed in August 2025 said they were closed all month.
• Plan transport. Guests in January 2026 and July 2023 describe the location as far from the center, with a limited shuttle.
• Ask about room view and floor when booking. A guest in March 2025 said the top floors needed an upgrade for views.
