Hotel Dei Mellini
A hotel in a quiet residential area near Piazza del Popolo and the Vatican in Rome with free breakfast, a bar and a gym.
Why people love it
- Breakfast. Guests call the free breakfast phenomenal, with a full spread of eggs, meats and many options, and Francesco is named for his service at breakfast.
- Staff who go further. Marta found a nearby shop for a guest whose hair dryer broke, and the concierge kept helping a guest with a restaurant issue days after checkout.
- Bathrooms and rooms. One guest called it the best bathroom of their Italy trip. Rooms differ, and some have terraces or a walk-in shower.
- Air conditioning and quiet. Guests praise strong air conditioning during the August heat and describe a quiet street.
The worst thing guests say
Staff entering rooms and older complaints. In July 2026 one guest said a hotel employee was caught at their door at 11:15 PM after the doorbell rang. Other low ratings are older: hard beds and cold staff in 2022, thin walls in 2021, and a refund dispute in 2020. Two 2025 and 2026 reviews note rooms that need updating.
Insider tips
- Ask for a room with a walk-in shower if you need one.
- It is a bit of a walk to the main sights, but the Vatican is close.
- Rooms are on the small side, so ask for one with a terrace.
