Castello di Monterone
A medieval castle hotel with 18 rooms, a restaurant, a spa and an outdoor pool on a hill above Perugia.
Why people love it
- The setting. Guests describe the castle as peaceful, with views over Perugia. It is about 10 minutes from the center by car or taxi.
- Staff. Reviewers from July to October 2026 call the staff friendly and helpful. One guest says they always try to go above and beyond.
- Restaurant and breakfast. Guests say the restaurant is worth booking for dinner. Breakfast is described as tasty and extensive.
- Events. A group of 56 guests rented the whole castle for three nights for a 50th birthday. A golf group also stayed in September 2026.
The worst thing guests say
In the last year, two guests (June and August 2026) said the air conditioning did not cool the room, and one spent a sleepless night in the heat. Other guests mention an uncomfortable bed, dust under the bed and old rooms. Older low reviews from 2024 and 2025 involve a proposal arrangement, a birthday booking and a standard room that was not what the guest expected, and several complain about the restaurant.
Insider tips
- Ask about air conditioning if you visit in summer.
- Book early, as one guest found it full for all of September.
- A bus runs from down the road, or take a taxi to the center.
