Hotel Cervetta 5

A small three-star hotel in the old center of Modena, a short walk from Piazza Grande and the Duomo, with a bar and breakfast.

Why people love it

• Location. Guests say the hotel is in the middle of the old town, steps from Piazza Grande, the Duomo and the Albinelli market.
• The reception team. A November 2025 guest called the reception staff exceptional. Others in 2025 and 2026 describe desk and housekeeping staff as friendly.
• Simple, quaint rooms. Several 2025 and 2026 guests call the rooms simple but charming and clean, with a nice bathroom in one case.
• Room service and breakfast. An October 2026 guest liked the breakfast options and the room service.

The worst thing guests say

Between 2025 and 2026, about half of the reviews with text raise real issues. Four guests mention no elevator, and rooms are described as small and dated. A September 2026 guest reported a bad smell and an uncomfortable bed, and a May 2026 guest found dust on the carpet, lamps and air conditioner. In July 2025 one guest was double-booked through a booking site and could not get a refund. Breakfast was €15 in September 2026.

Insider tips

• Ask about the lack of an elevator if you have heavy luggage; the hotel has stairs only.
• The hotel is inside a restricted traffic zone, so check how to reach it by car before you arrive.
• A guest suggested the cafe next door as a cheaper breakfast than the hotel's €15.
