Why people love it
- The cuisine. Guests describe a five-course dinner each evening, themed evenings and a gala dinner, and one compares the menu to Michelin-star quality.
- Family-friendly service. A family with two children said they never felt unwelcome, and others mention that the hotel is child and dog friendly.
- Pools and lawn. Guests mention indoor and outdoor pools and a sunbathing lawn with mountain views above Merano.
- Quiet setting. Reviewers describe a quiet hotel away from the hustle, with secure parking.
Why they come back
"We've been going back to Merano for years, ever since my parents vacationed there for 25 years. Merano without the Burggräfler Hotel just wouldn't be the same for us."
The worst thing guests say
Complaints are mostly older. Guests in 2017 to 2022 called the hotel dated or partly renovated and priced high for its structure. A guest in August 2025 and one in December 2024 gave 4 stars while praising the food and staff. A June 2026 returning guest mentioned some negatives without clear detail in the review.
Insider tips
- The access road is narrow, but traffic is light.
- The town centre is a 20 to 30 minute walk, and a bus stop is 10 minutes away.
- Rooms were described as cool in one older review, so ask about warmth in winter.
