Tenuta di Castellaro
A wine estate on Lipari with a sunset tour and tasting, a bistro and a few guest rooms, set on a hillside with views of the Aeolian Islands.
Why people love it
- The sunset tour. Most recent reviewers came for the guided tour and a tasting of three wines at sunset, and describe the view over the islands as the highlight.
- The guides. Francesca and Giuseppe are named in several 2026 reviews for explaining the history of the estate and answering questions. One guest said Francesca also speaks German.
- The cellar. A guest in September 2026 described the underground, sustainable cellar as cleverly designed.
- Picnic and bistro. One guest had a picnic in the vineyard and another stopped at the bistro for a first course.
The worst thing guests say
Nearly all reviews are from visitors to the tasting, not overnight guests. Between 2020 and 2025, about ten of them complained that the sunset aperitif felt rushed or disorganized, with small pours and long waits, and a few were refused a glass outside tour times. One 2021 overnight guest said the room had no working air conditioning. No recent stayer complaints appear.
Insider tips
- Book the sunset tasting ahead.
- Bring mosquito repellent, as one 2025 guest recommended.
- A minibus transfer from the main port was offered, and one guest paid about €50 each for the tasting with shuttle in 2023.
